about
In honor of Juneteenth, ALL proceeds from IT'S THE WAY as well as the Bandcamp revenue share will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a racial justice organization with a long history of effectively enacting change through litigation, advocacy, and public education (for Bandcamp, 24 hrs, for Girl with a Hawk, indefinitely. :)
It's the Way was recorded in November 2020 in the heart of Covid times outdoors with a fine band on a fine autumn day. Additional tracks were recorded remotely over the winter and engineered and mixed by Richard Lamphear.
We hope you enjoy!
lyrics
It’s the Way Linda S. Viens 2020
It’s the pain, that makes us all the same,
don’t ya know, don’t ya know
It’s the way, there comes a time we must explain, and
we must go, we must go
But you’ll remember every place,
And you’ll remember every face, that got you thru.
There’s a hand, held out for us to take,
As we break, as we break
And there’s the thing we have the power to make,
The choice to live, another day.
Come on darlin’, walk beside me, you don’t want to stand
behind me
Nobody’s better than anybody else.
Cry for everything it cost you, but everything you’ve lost might
save you, ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooo ooh
And there’s a song, that you know you’ve got to sing,
that is true, true to you.
And there’s a space that you know you’ve got to make
For something new, something new
Come now darlin’, walk beside me, you don’t want to stand
behind me
Nobody’s better than anybody else.
Cry for everything it cost you, but everything you’ve lost might
save you, ooh ooh ooh ooh, might save you,
oooh ooh oooh might save you….
oooh oooh oooh
Will save you.

It's rare to find a CD that is both a pop and concept album full of hooks and oddness that one can play it over and over again without it getting old because it's so musically rich with interesting material. SonOfHermit
